Why this course exists
Most people stop drawing around age ten, when they decide they “can’t draw.” But drawing is a learnable skill, like reading or playing an instrument. It follows clear principles and improves with the right kind of practice.
Good material is often scattered across videos, books and forums, in random order. Draw It puts the essentials in one structured path, explained in plain language, in English and Brazilian Portuguese.
How to use it
Follow the lessons in order: each one builds on the previous. Read the lesson, play with the interactive examples, then do the exercises on paper (or in the sketchpad). Mark the lesson as complete and move on.
Don’t wait for mastery before moving forward. Go through a module, keep practicing its exercises as warm-ups, and come back to earlier lessons often. Fundamentals are revisited for an entire career.
Use the training tools for daily warm-ups and the exercise library for complete practice sessions.
The philosophy
Fundamentals first. Perspective, form, value and proportion matter more than any tool or style. Once you understand them, every medium (pencil, watercolor, oil or a tablet) becomes much easier.
Understanding over copying. Every lesson explains why a technique works, so you can apply it to any subject, from observation or imagination.
Practice with purpose. Short, focused, regular practice beats long, unfocused sessions.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Every lesson, tool and exercise is free and will stay free.
Do I need talent?
No. Talent is mostly early interest plus lots of practice. Everyone starts with wobbly lines.
What do I need to start?
A pencil and paper. The materials lesson explains what to buy as you progress, and the online tools work with a mouse, a finger or a pen.
How long until I am good?
With 30 minutes a day, most people see clear progress within a few weeks and draw convincingly from observation within a year. Reaching a professional level usually takes several years of consistent practice.
Is my progress saved?
Your completed lessons are saved in your browser (localStorage). Nothing is sent to a server, and the site uses no tracking cookies.
Traditional or digital first?
Either works. Many artists recommend starting traditional because it trains confident lines, but the fundamentals are exactly the same.
